The firm was founded in 1978, and its expertise covers the traditional areas of law such as: Criminal, Civil, Corporate, Labor and Environmental counseling and litigation. In order to respond to an urgent demand for specialized counseling, assistance and representation in the country and taking advantage of our vast experience in litigation- industrial and intellectual property (IP), a few years ago, we decided to initiate an IP practice area.  

Bufete Morera & Morera’s  IP practice initiated on 2005 with the incorporation of Néstor Morera Víquez, Master in Intellectual Property from the Universidad de Alicante, Spain and Ll.M Master of Laws in Intellectual Property from the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) (Geneve, Switzerland) and the University of Turin; and has consolidated in 2008 with the incorporation of Zayde Chahin Rozo, also Master in Intellectual Property, with more than 8 years of experience in prosecuting Plant Breeders Rights, Patent Applications for the Pharmaceutical R&D Industry, and the litigation of IP rights in Colombia.

Despite the recent establishment of this practice area, the high profile of its members has allowed its rapid expansion and the possibility of being rated as one of the fastest growing IP practices in Costa Rica. The foregoing permitted that Nestor Morera became president of the IP Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Costa Rica and Director of the IP postgraduate course imparted by the Universidad de Costa Rica.  

The IP Area is integrated by two partners, two junior associates, an agronomist, a chemist  and one paralegal, all committed to protect our client’s best interests.
